Just like that, New York Fashion Week 2022 has come and gone in a blink of an eye! It was a whirlwind of a week as I tried to dash from show to afterparty. Unfortunately, I even missed a show due to the heavy traffic – an inevitable price to pay being in New York City! No complaints here though as I had a really good time reconnecting with old friends and of course – drooling over the latest looks from my favorite designers. In fact, there were quite a lot of themes and details I kept seeing over and over again. This signifies to me that they will be big trends come next season. Low Rise Cuts
It seems like the resurfacing of 90s trends continues to grow each day with low-rise cuts being one of the more stellar standout trends from this year’s recent NYFW. Across all different designers, low slung pants were stomping down the runway repeatedly, taking the form of both casual and formal looks. Midriff-baring trousers were styled with blazers and cut out crop tops. The low-rise cut bottoms are so omnipresent. I even saw several influencers and celebrities rocking them on the street and to shows.

Metallics Galore
Things are about to get a bit brighter come Spring 2022 thanks to the metallic craze that popped up all over NYFW this year. Flashy embellishments like sequins will still remain relevant but glitz and glam was actually delivered via fabrications. I am talking about shiny silk material and metallic faux-leather. I really liked this alternative to metallics as it feels more intentional and elevated than some previous glam pieces. This is also a spring 2022 trend that you can incorporate into your fall and winter wardrobe to get a head start.

Fringe
Texture will play a big part in spring trend with fringe detailing leading the way. This is such a fun trend that seemingly puts the party in any look! A fringe crochet skirt is ideal for a summer night out and about in town. Or a fringe handbag is a unique update to your everyday carry-all. Whatever the case, gear up and get ready to see this playful detail in different looks and pieces come next season.

Bra Tops
I absolutely love that we are collectively feeling more confident in ourselves and baring more skin for this next trend. Many designers were choosing to forgo the idea of a traditional shirt and opt for more daring bra tops for select looks on the runway. This is the perfect excuse to expand your comfy bralette collection. You can create on-trend outfits by styling with trousers, pencil skirts and more! Pro tip: You could just as easily swap your bras for bikini tops to further expand your outfit options with this emerging spring/summer 2022 trend!

If the Met Gala did not make you aware that this trend is back and in full force, I don’t know what will! The naked dress is flattering and sexy. It is perfect for smoldering date nights or even girls night out. In particular, a lot of spring trends were translated into sheer maxi dresses paired with bras and high-waisted panties underneath for a bit more coverage. The lightweight fabric will also be ideal for next year’s warm weather so definitely keep this on your radar!
