One of the reasons why I’ve always been so drawn to fashion is because the volume it speaks – literally. On the surface, fashion might seem like nothing more than guys and girls prancing around in fancy frocks but oftentimes fashion is on the forefront of communicating something bigger. I couldn’t be more proud to partner with one of my favorite brands, Express, to share more about the power of fashion and how you can make a statement with where you shop, the brands you support and the outfits you rock.…

1. Shop brands that support causes you believe in
I’m honestly so proud of where the fashion industry is headed seeing how there are a plethora of brands that are spreading awareness and promoting inclusivity across communities. Express is one of those brands. In celebration of Pride Month, Express has partnered with GLAAD and Out Magazine to release its first “Love Unites” collection, which features 35 all-gender pieces that speak to unity and individuality. The brand is pledging 25% of net income from the collection to GLAAD to accelerate acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community.
Not only do these pieces make a statement in themselves but they’re actually so fun to wear. My rainbow top is from Express and I’m loving the blocks of color that’s right in line with the warmer weather and my bold style. There are so many more pieces in this collection that’s worth shopping including this bodysuit and graphic tee. I also linked more of my favorites below.

2. Slogan tees FTW
Words printed on clothing is a great way to spread awareness no matter where you are. You can’t speak to everyone you come across but you can show them with a well-presented yet radical message plastered on an article of clothing. This is why I’m such a fan of the Love Unites message from the Express collection. It’s subtle but packs a punch especially with the rainbow coloring. You’ll also learn quickly that slogan tees are often great conversation starters and create opportunities for you to educate others as well as be better informed about sensitive and controversial matters.
3. Make a statement with silhouettes
Fashion not only has to be literal and intentional, but you can say a lot with silhouettes too. For instance, women wearing unconventional pieces such as baggy jeans and a utilitarian jumpsuit (or a boiler suit). Wearing more masculine pieces is a great way to express a progressive mindset. And that’s honestly why I’ve always been drawn to unexpected pieces that seem hard to style. Designers we look up to like Yves Saint Laurent and Coco Chanel often used masculine silhouettes as a conduit to give more power to women during the 60’s feminist movements. Express also does a great job serving up these fresh looks at reasonable prices today.
