Cozy season is officially upon us and I could not be more ready to embrace the drop in temperature. Fall just over fills me with happiness and contentment as my family and friends partake in those stereotypical autumn festivities such as apple picking, bonfires, and steaming cups of hot cider. With the arrival of the all the aforementioned fall activities, one needs the appropriate cozy outfits to set the tone! I am talking knits, layers and so much more. The following contains all the cozy chic items you need in your wardrobe this season.…

Oversized Sweaters
Obviously, we need to address sweater weather above anything else. This time of year is all about the chunky knits and oversized sweaters that really allow you to maximize on comfort. Whether you prefer neutral colored knits that pair well with any outfit or more brightly colored, graphic printed sweaters – they are all a win in my book. Oversized tops are perfect for layering over just about anything too. Chunky sweaters look just as cozy when draped over a midi skirt or with your favorite pair of jeans and boots.

Anything Corduroy
One of the coziest fabrications in the fall and winter is most definitely corduroy! This soft, textured look is great in just about any silhouette you can imagine. Corduroy worker jackets make for the best fall layering device or wear corduroy trousers for an updated feel on a basic style. Either way, cord manages to look good with (surprise, surprise) a chunky knit or even something lighter, such as a silk blouse.

Sherpa Boots
The previous Fall/Winter runway shows featured a lot of this accessory. Any sort of boot with either sherpa liner or even fur festooned on the outside was a big hit with fashion insiders alike. Staying true to the cozy vibe, these boots are not only chic, but incredibly practical because they really do keep your lower half warm.
We all love a trend that isn’t so far fetched and is more on the utilitarian side, right?!

Blanket Scarves
As far as accessories go, blanket scarves are just about as cozy as it can get. Face it, an ordinary scarf is already an amazing cold weather accessories, but when you triple its size, it only gets better. Blanket scarves in textured fabrics are great for adding some dimension and shape to your fall outfit. Another take on this is the poncho or cape. Gotta love that it allows you to add interest by playing with different patterns and colors.

Turtlenecks
Say you want to ditch the scarf look all together? A turtleneck is yet another great option for when you want to look good but do not want to sacrifice your personal style. Both knitted and ribbed turtlenecks are my absolute favorite for when it gets really frigid outside. However, I have been seeing a lot more of tighter fitting turtlenecks in different, trendy patterns such as cheetah or tiger print – these are perfect for layering.

Faux-Fur
Lastly, I got to give it up to my fuzzy coats. I promise – no animals were harmed in the making of this trend as I definitely prefer faux-fur above anything else. A full on faux mink knee-length coat is always a classy choice for layering during a night out. Or a teddy or faux shearling coat is another great option for something more casual. Even a jacket with faux fur lapels manages to up your cozy game by tenfold!
