This year, swimwear is focused on simple cuts and designs. There is definitely a greater focus on solids than extremely busy patterns. Some of the trending swimsuit colors will be neutrals, earthy tones, and pastels. There is less focus on hardware details and more on soft details such as knots and ruffles. Accessorizing your bathing suit? Yes, it is totally a thing and one of the best trends for 2018 swimwear in my opinion! First of all, it adds such a chic element to the look. Secondly, it emphasizes the smallest part of your waist and accentuates your curves in all of the right places. Many of these suits have a belt attached, but you can also DIY it. Simply tie a long, thin scarf around the small of your waist for a unique look. Add a large floppy hat and you have achieved an effortless, retro vibe!

I recall wearing smocked dresses as a little girl so it’s funny to see this detail sneaking up on me again. It’s such a great style to add to your swimwear collection because the elastic material makes it so easy to wear. I’m obsessed with the comfort and the stretch. It feels less restrictive than your traditional swimsuit fabrics.
