Although, your Instagram feed is probably already congested with families and couples alike posing in the nearest pumpkin patch, there’s no denying that it is such a fun thing to do at this time of year! My girls love our annual trip to pick out pumpkins and I really want to expand upon this idea and continue the fun for the whole family all season long! There are so many cute activities you and the kids can do together to celebrate the arrival of fall. From tackling a giant corn maze together to holding a bonfire in your own backyard, here are some of my favorite fall activities your own family can take on!…

Pumpkin Patch
Personally, I do not think it is really, truly fall season until we fill our home with some pumpkins! Every year, my family treks out to our local pumpkin patch to scour the field for the perfect one to bring home. It’s really fun trapezing through the farm together and once you bring the goods home, the fall festivities continue on! You can simply use the pumpkins as decor, take a stab at carving a design or even use the pumpkins to bake a fall treat like roasted pumpkin seeds.

Trick-or-Treating
If you have young ones, trick-or-treating is obviously the highlight of October. Hazel and Capri start thinking of their costumes months before Halloween even rolls around! No doubt, your neighborhood partakes in trick-or-treating on Halloween night, but you can also check to see if your local mall or shopping center hosts their own trick-or-treating event if you want to double up on the festivities.
Corn Maze
If you are already heading to the farm to do some pumpkin picking, check to see if they also have a corn maze you can do too! This is another classic fall activity the whole family can do together. Also, hot tip for my fellow parents, letting the young ones run around the corn maze is an effective way of tiring them out too!

Hiking
To be honest, I think you can do some of the best hiking at this time of year. You can avoid the sweltering heat that comes with summertime and you can see some amazing fall foliage. Nothing is more beautiful than the trees turning different shades! Grab your family, put on your hiking boots, and head to your nearest trail. I love incorporating hikes into our bonding time because it is a way to connect without the presence of technology and teaches the kids to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Bonfire
Sometimes you don’t even need to leave your house to catch those fall feels. On days when we collectively want to stay home and be lazy, a bonfire is a great excuse for spending some of this time outdoors. A roasted marshmallow smashed between some graham crackers and melted chocolate never fails to hit the spot too!

Apple Orchard
If your family is big on fruit, fall is the perfect time to go apple picking! Hazel and Capri absolutely adore going to the orchard to pick out all the apples. Once you bring them home, you can take it a step further by baking apple pie, making fresh squeezed apple juice, or perhaps even homemade caramel apples.

Football Game
Tis the season for football! Granted, I might not be the most sports-savvy person, but I do appreciate football season for the social aspect (and finger food). It is a great excuse to get together with your girlfriends while the husbands are in the other room yelling at the TV and the kids are off playing.
Or if you want to get out of the house, make a visit go your local university to watch a college football game.
Sunflower Field
If you are not really a pumpkin or an apple person, you may want to hit up a sunflower field instead. This is the time of year in which they are in full bloom, so you should definitely take advantage as it is truly breathtaking. Plus, it is a great place for family photo shoots!
