Happy Monday! This post is dedicated to all the moms out there who will be WFH, managing the household chores and meals, and homeschooling the kids this week. Who knew that we’d be playing teacher and more for the next month? I’ll be honest in that teaching isn’t exactly my forte – and I’m not really into this whole virtual learning situation. But it seems we don’t have a choice right now, which is why I’m so darn grateful for the Internet! For Math
Khan Academy – I’m the parent who repeats the math question louder and louder instead of helping because, honestly, I don’t know how to break down mathematical concepts in kid form. That’s why I’m such a big fan of Khan Academy. It’s a free online learning platform that provides a blend of instructional videos that are super easy to follow with practice exercises. The subjects span across math, science, programming, art and more. However, I find it especially helpful for math!
AAA Math – This site provides students with thousands of interactive computations and lessons related to time and money so they can refine their problem solving skills. There are a wide range of problems for kids from grades K-8, and it’s all free.
A Plus Math – Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or a student, you can grab some amazing free math worksheets, games, flashcards, and more here. The main topics of focus are addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometry – all perfect for kids in elementary school.
Prodigy – This is a zero-cost math learning platform for grades 1–8. Kids love prodigy because it takes the anxiety out of learning a topic as complex as math. It’s mostly game-based and grants rewards and prizes to kids, which make it fun, engaging, and motivating to keep leveling up!
K5 Learning – Nothing beats a good 1 on 1 lesson. When I feel like the girls are struggling in a particular subject, I head straight to this site to print out some worksheets that we can work through together. The lessons are on par with what’s being taught in the schools and there are also a good variety of sheets to pick from by topic.
School Yourself – Here’s a resource that’s invented online education in the style of 1-on-1 learning. The lessons are more advanced and include Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Trigonometry and Algebra II. You’ll have access to hundreds of interactive, personalized math lessons for free.

For Reading
Book Creator – This is usually a paid subscription service, but they’re offering it free for 90 days given the global pandemic. Once you create an account, you’ll have access to 1 library and 40 free books. It allows kids to create books about things they love and actually want to read. I love that there’s a writing element to it too.
ABC Mouse – Although ABCMouse is a comprehensive curriculum for kids under Grade 2, I prefer it for reading. There’s big focus on phonics, rhyming words, parts of speech, and alphabet recognition, which are all perfect for early learners. It’s no surprise that the site is praised and recommended by teachers across the board. Plus, the kids are always so excited to use it and can’t stop.
Epic – What you get here is a digital library of the best kids books, popular ebooks, and videos. Now that we can’t freely visit the library and it’s not the most cost efficient to buy books (especially in times like this), ebooks are the way to go. Epic also has a huge library of books in Spanish, French, and Chinese.
PBS Reading – PBS makes reading fun since the stories comprise of famous kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Word Girl, Arthur and more. The site also has a huge library of printables that you can use to enhance the learning experience.

Miscellaneous
National Geographic – Learning goes beyond math and reading, and National Geographic is one of my favorites to get the girls thinking more globally. They can learn about animals (including prehistoric ones), the U.S., Native Americans and more.
Schoolhouse Rock! – I also think this the PERFECT time to learn about our government, its history, and how it works! Schoolhouse Rock is one of my favorite online learning resources for kids as it features short musicals that are entertaining yet packed with great info. The videos are short so they’re easy to digest.
IXL – This is one of the only online learning resources that I feel strongly covers all subjects for grades K-12. The skill plans follow various state standards and makes it easy to find content that supports the standards. There are even test prep and assessment skill plans students can go through.
Scholastic – If you’re more about hands-on learning that gets your kids thinking, you might like the day-to-day projects on the Scholastic site. The lessons are provided on a weekly basis, making it easy to follow.
