The holiday season this year is probably going to look a bit different because chances are holiday gatherings are going to be pretty tight knit. This is one of my favorite times of year and it is going to be hard to keep the spirits bright for both you and your children if you are not participating in the usual festivities. This year, I think it is more important now than ever to have fun decorating the home for the holidays so you can still create a joyous environment to maintain some normalcy to end 2020. I promise a little decorating will go such a long way! Seasonal decorating does not have to cost a fortune either, especially if you start earlier. Incorporate Ribbon into Your Garland
Firstly, garlands are one of my favorite holiday hacks because it adds some inviting greenery to the room. You can wrap these around your staircase banister, display on the fireplace mantle, or wherever else you would want to add some color! Get creative with your garland too. Use fairy lights or beaded garlands to add some shine and also get crafty with some festive ribbon in patterns like gingham, tartan and burlap. This is such an easy way to upgrade your garlands! You can even use the same ribbon to display on the Christmas tree for a cohesive look.

Dress Up the Bar Cart
Holidays are for making spirits bright so this obviously means stocking up the bar cart with your drink of choice. You can hang things like a mini garland and twinkly lights from the sides. Or incorporate some cutesy holiday decor pieces like some metallic mini trees or a festive floral arrangement to stand next to your wine bottles. To make it even more holiday appropriate, you could even upgrade some of the elements on the bar cart like a gold cocktail shaker set or gold rimmed champagne flutes.

Light Some Candles
Perhaps one of the easiest ways to gear up your home for the holidays is some aromatherapy. Light some of your favorite holiday inspired candles to really set the mood for the season. I love glass mercury votives for that vintage glam effect too. If you hate the nuisance of cleaning up pines after a real Christmas tree but love the smell of it, lighting up a balsam, pine, or cedar scented candle will make your fake tree come to life!

Welcoming Wreath
In addition to decorating inside the home, it is also really nice to add some festive touches to the outside too. You could go all out and add some lights to your trees and fixtures or you can keep it simple. An easy way to decorate outside is to hang a gorgeous wreath on the front door (or even every window) to welcome you and your guests anytime you step through. There are loads of wreaths out there in farm house, minimal, traditional and glamour themes – something for everyone!

Holiday Pillows & Throws
Another way to decorate for the holiday season is to incorporate some cozy textiles onto your family room couch and even on your bed! Seasonal motif plush throws are really fun for the kids to snuggle up in. For the adults, a chunky knit throw blanket is great to hang over the couch or to even use as a tree skirt. Decorative holiday pillows are another way to quickly spruce up your space for the holidays.

Festive Tableware
When it comes to holiday home decor, I always love bringing out the winter themed tableware. Cute red mugs or festive plates and bowls really make each meal feel special and fun for the whole family. It really brings the spirit of Christmas to the dinner table every night. Christmas themed mugs are also really cute for serving hot cocoa in by the fire!
