Vintage in the Forbidden City
Balloon Sleeve Blouse Similar | Asymmetrical Skirt Similar | Boyy Buckle Bag
It’s not often that I get to visit my home country, but when I do, there’s so much heritage to embrace. This photo here was snapped right before I left to Tianjin to visit my grandma. If you don’t already know, in the background is the Forbidden City, a well-known landmark and tourist attraction in Beijing. I happened to be wearing a peasant blouse with balloon sleeves and an asymmetrical skirt in what appears to be vintage blue. I love that this look had a vintage charm to it, fitting right into the scenery. This is a look that can be elevated or casual depending on your shoes – sneakers or mules would make it easy to wear while heels would instantly perk things up. Versatility is key when traveling.

Not So Clueless
There’s nothing wrong with loving pink or plaid, but when you mesh the two together, things can quickly escalate (i.e. Clueless). But it doesn’t have to. The longer length of the plaid skirt moves this outfit away from school girl feels while the modern white accessories give it that grown up touch.
This brings me to my next point – comfy shoes. Anytime I travel, I need at least one pair of comfy shoes. These mule flats work for everything between walking through the airport, sight seeing, or dressing up a simple look. They were a life saver during my China trip.

Monaco Glamour
Alix Bodysuit | Sheer Floral Skirt Similar | Chanel Vanity Bag from What Goes Around Comes Around | Alexander Wang Heels
Immediately after China, I set off for Monaco and showed up in this dressier look. It appears to be a dress initially but look again and you’ll see that it’s two pieces. This is a styling trick I often use. I like to throw matching separates together so that I can repurpose them into various casual (or dressier) looks. Sure, dresses might be the easier alternative, but you can’t break up a dress into two or even three different looks.

Garden Soiree
That’s not to say I don’t like dresses because I definitely do! When it comes to summer vacations, I drool over dresses with vibrant colors and fun silhouettes that will make me feel great. Believe it or not, color can really change your mood. This tiered dress features two of my favorite trends – polka dot prints and frayed edges which came together beautifully. And after traveling is all over, I know I’ll be able to take it beyond the moment into weddings or backyard parties.

Suited Up
Not in the mood for outfit planning? No problem. Besides dresses, you also have jumpsuits! I recently featured this Alice McCall jumpsuit on the blog and it remains one of my favorite pieces through my trips. It’s figure flattering since the style naturally elongates petite frames.
If you’re looking to take a casual route, I recommend trying a denim or linen jumpsuit. But if you’re in need of a cocktail hour piece, lace and/or embroidered styles will do the trick.

Glow Getter
LoveShackFancy Top and Skirt (ON SALE!) | Alienina Bag
So we’ve covered the basics – casual and dressy separates, jumpsuits, and dresses. But there’s one more thing – matching sets! I am such a fan of matching sets because you can wear them together – or not. This one struck me in particular because the metallic pattern which I knew would glow up against the lights at night.
