While I was traveling these last two last months, I hit up Beijing, Monaco, Grasse, & Portofino, but there’s place I haven’t shared much of yet, and that is Venice! It’s one of my favorite places in Italy because the city is so unlike everything else from the endless cobblestone streets and bridges (which are both a blessing and a curse) to the way you get around (water taxis), it’s pretty surreal. There’s so much history and heritage here along with many quirks which I’ll share throughout this post. But first, let’s take a trip down memory lane and recap my Instagram outfits in Venice!
…
A little fun fact about Venice – there are over 400 bridges but only 4-5 span across the Grand Canal. One of the most recognizable ones is of course, The Rialto Bridge, which you’ll see below. Also, regarding San Marco Square, you’ll notice flocks of pigeons, but do not feed them. It is illegal. You may come across locals who try to sell you grain but note that they’re doing so illegally, and if you participate, you risk getting fined.

Hidden Canals
This hidden nook is quite the popular spot on Instagram but it isn’t the easiest to find. And for that reason, if you happen to find it, it’s practically empty (every influencer’s dream come true)! If you want to know where it is, drop me a comment below!

Gondola Days
I don’t think any trip in Venice is complete without a gondola ride, but unfortunately, you’ll pay a pretty price – around 80 euros per ride! It’s quite a romantic experience in such a beautiful city.
For history addicts, it’s estimated that there were 8-10k gondolas during the 17th and 18th century yet only about 400 are active today. They could have been bright, flamboyant colors in the past, but a law requires them all to be painted black! And if you’ve been on a gondola ride and felt that it was lopsided, you’re exactly right. They all are!

The Rialto Bridge
And here goes the ever popular Rialto Bridge – my personal favorite spot for gondola watching!
For another fun fact, it’s illegal to picnic and eat around the streets or public parks – and only allowed in areas designated to public spaces used commercially. The food and drinks you see here were used purely for photos and not actually consumed.

There are lots of tourist things to do in Venice besides bridge scouting and gondola rides. Back to San Marco Square, there’s Caffè Florian, the oldest coffee house in continuous operation. It was established in the early 1700s and is a tourist favorite. It does get busy, but considering Italy has the best cappuccino, you can’t go wrong with other shops in the square!
If you’re a shopper like me, the luxury shopping street of Salizada San Moisè is a short walk away from San Marco Square. As you can see, I splurged a little because life is short and I work too hard.
