I‘ve never been much of the healthy eater, but with this virus raging hard, I’ve been taking precautionary measures to boost my immune system. Doing so just doesn’t involve hand washing, sunbathing, and social distancing either… It’s time to get your diets in check ladies. While we all know that oranges, pineapples, strawberries and the likes can do wonders for your immune system, I decided to dig a little deeper into lesser known superfoods. Below are 8 ingredients to add to your diets ASAP!…

Turmeric
Turmeric is probably one of the most effective superfoods to exist. It’s often found in various Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisines – particularly curries – and gives those dishes their vibrant yellow color. It’s anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, does amazing things for the brain, improves the skin, and powers up the immune system.

Tea
Teas are jam-packed with various antioxidants that enhance immune function. I recommend swapping your morning cup of joe for some elderberry or green tea.

Ginger
Most Asian cultures swear by ginger for everything, and drinking ginger juice has even become a thing in the Western world. My family has used it to ease nausea, vomiting, and cramping during “that time of the month”. It’s a good source of antioxidant that can support the immune system now.

Garlic

…
Mushrooms
I love mushrooms and was happy to find out that they’re uber rich in vitamins, polyphenols, sterols and zinc, which keep the immune system strong. According to U.S. News, mushrooms also regulate white blood cells and keep them in a prepared state so they can attack viruses/bacteria that attempt to takeover the body. I find them most delicious on the grill or in hot pot!
…
Nuts
Walnuts and almonds are key anti-inflammatory foods, that contain nutrients like vitamins E and B6, play a role in supporting the immune system. Luckily, they’re easy to snack on and you can toss them into salads, smoothies, or DIY trial mixes.
…
Oysters
Oysters sound like a luxury right now but you can count me in anytime for some. They’re apparently amazing for your immune system because they’re extremely high in zinc and serve as an excellent source of protein and iron. Other seafoods that are high in zinc include mussels, clams, and crab.
