Self-Portrait Dress | Rachel Comey Earrings (Sold out, Similar) | Marc Jacobs Fanny Pack | Booties Similar
Fanny packs have long hit the market but only now are the masses jumping on board. Whether or not this is a trend to stay, I can’t say for sure, but I do know it’s worth wearing this fall. Now I know many of you cringe at the thought of wearing something that was once targeted towards anyone over 45, but thanks to the streets, there’s potential in this masterpiece. Plus, you have so many more options and styling choices than what came around in the early aughts…From leather to satin and velvet to quilted textures, the belt bag is looking more elevated than ever. If you’ve been on the lookout for bonafide ways to style fanny packs, I’m sharing my favorites today.

1. Wear it as a traditional belt
The novice way to wear the fanny pack is as you would a regular belt. Start with something easy like high-waisted jeans and a crop top and then gradually move onto out-of-the-box looks. It adds the perfect amount of edge to a dressy one-piece. The Marc Jacobs one I’m wearing is so unique because you can wear it four different ways.
I wore mine as as a belt bag, but I’m already planning a few different looks with it as a clutch, a cross body bag as well as a shoulder bag! You get all your essential bags in one style!

2. Buckle it over outerwear
One of my favorite ways to style fanny packs is wearing it over outerwear. Whether you’re belting a blazer or a trench coat, this is an ingenius way to tie all your fall layers together. It’s very catchy with white boots or chunky sneakers. I also highly recommend it for breaking up denim on denim outfits or monochromatic looks. That waist-cinching effect never gets old.

3. Try it as a sling
Finally, I have been seeing all the cool cats on the street wear the fanny pack as a sling – and it’s quite edgy and alluring. You can leave the pouch in the front, the back, or draped across your chest and under the arm cross body style. A bright colored one is perfect for brightening up neutral looks. But go for a chain strap, and you get a nice downtown effect, which looks really cool when it’s peeking out from underneath a coat.
