It’s no surprise by now that one piece swimsuits are hotter this summer than ever before. It was rare to find a one piece swimsuit a few months ago, but now they are plentiful. One of my favorite places for shopping all different types of swimsuits has to be ASOS. Their price range is anything from affordable to contemporary allowing me to discover new swimsuit brands and explore different trends. ASOS also has an amazing feature where you can watch a video of the pieces modeled so you can get a better sense of how the swimsuit actually looks like! Before you decide on a one piece swimsuit, consider these four important things to find the perfect one piece swimsuit for you!
I’ve always been a fan of one piece swimsuits. Up until this summer, they were misunderstood as a style that’s a little more outdated. But now that they are revamped and brought back into the spotlight. You’re going to be seeing me in one for all of my upcoming beach trips! I especially love bright colored one pieces and really unique cutouts. I was a little intimidated at first about how bright the red was. But I’m actually obsessed and think that I’m gonna wear this again comes 4th of July weekend.
It took me a while to actually find some that were just right for me. In the process, I’ve determined a few important guidelines to follow when I shop for one piece swimsuits. I’m going to share them with you in this post and I hope that they will be able to help you find yours too!

First and foremost, think about your body type. Knowing this best will help you in determining what you’re going to be most comfortable in and what features you are looking to highlight or hide. When choosing a one piece, it’s not enough to pick one that looks cute. Choosing the right one piece swimsuit style is important as well as the material and color. Also remember: just because a swimsuit is expensive, doesn’t mean it’s the perfect one piece swimsuit for you!

What’s Your Body Type?
Are you a pear shape, apple shape, hourglass shape or straight? If your hips are a little wider than your waist and bust, then this should tell you that you are a pear shape. Apple shape body types are those with waists that are wider than hips. You might also be an apple shape body type if your waist is just as wide as your bust, so keep this in mind. For those with an hourglass shape, it should be a little more obvious as your bust and hips should be about the same size, and your waist is a little smaller. Straight shape body types are those who are a little more thin and petite all around with hips, waists, and busts being relatively the same size.
Now that you’ve determined your body type, let’s think about what one piece swimsuit style is best for you!

Determining Your One Piece Swimsuit Style
There are so many one piece swimsuit styles that are out right now. I covered a few of the hottest trends previously on the blog so you can refer to my guide for “One Piece Swimsuits That Are Sexier Than A Bikini” for more inspirations. But while we are here, some of the most flattering styles are cutouts, sheer panels, and bardot.
Each style compliments a different body type. Sheer panels provide the right amount of sexiness for a more covered up look. Cutouts bring attentions to your beautiful curves and can do wonders to those with straight body types or hourglass shaped. And bardot styles are for a flirty and feminine look. This style is recommended for pear shapes, as bardot swimsuits are usually adorned with ruffles and frills that will balance out your overall look.

The Importance Of Choosing The Right Swimsuit Material
The materials of one piece swimsuit are generally overlooked. They actually play a huge part in the final look of your swimsuit when you have it on. So make sure you take note! More than the material of a bikini, a one piece swimsuit is a large piece of fabric that covers your entire body so it definitely is an important part of finding a perfect one piece swimsuit for you!
A satin material one piece is extremely luxe but can highlight certain parts that you might not want to show. This is due to the material being so smooth. Consider a shirred, ruched or textured fabric to hide volume if you are a pear shape or apple shape that are not too comfortable with your heavy bottoms. Of course, it is important to love yourself and embrace your body, but when it comes to fashion, I believe you have many options to look your best and that starts with you being comfortable with yourself.

Choosing A Color That Compliments You
When it comes to choosing the color of your one piece swimsuit, I believe that there are no rules. You’ve basically already gotten all of the important aspects taken care of if you consider the other points. But for that one perfect one piece swimsuit that you might want to splurge on, here are some color guidelines to consider.
Black is sleek and slimming and white is fresh and modern. A solid bold color is daring but gives off the vibe that you’re fun and confident. If you are looking to highlight your curves, don’t be afraid to go for a bold and bright color. A bright floral or stripe pattern will look amazing.
For those who have lighter skin, go towards deep rich tones. These are shades of navy, burgundy, or even a mustard. These colors are lux and will really stand out in a chic way against your skin tone. If you are on the darker side or have already gotten a little tan, try a bright color. The contrast will really be eye popping! Last but definitely not least, for those who are looking for something that’s more modest, I recommend a solid color suit. This will look simple and classy and will work wonders in hiding volume and looking sleek.
