I was definitely a frequent flip flop wearer way back when I was younger but never thought I’d see them as trendy or fashionable in this day and age. To my surprise, heeled flip flops are back and they’re the summer sandals I’ve been missing in my wardrobe all these years. Unlike Havaianas and Rainbows, today’s modern iterations are sleek, elevated, and totally on-trend. Plus, they’re super comfortable and go right along with any outfit. With Neutrals…
If you find flip flops too daring to wear, take a subtle approach with a neutral look. Like most of us in the fashion industry, I’ve been obsessing over beige from blazers to knit sets, and denim. You can keep it classic with a pair of black thongs or go all out like I would with neon flip flops. Bright-colored shoes will take any look from boring to head turning in 60 secs. Keep your accessories to a minimum and let the shoes do the talking.

With Denim…
Heeled flip flops and denim are a no-brainer if you were old enough in the 90’s and early 00’s as this was probably your typical uniform on the weekends. For an updated take on this classic combo, I prefer to go with bermuda shorts or ankle-cropped jeans paired with a trendy top (think puff sleeves!). It’s such a nostalgic outfit that works for running errands or a quick coffee date.

With Short Hemlines…
It probably seems challenging to make flip flops look fresh and stylish, but when paired with a thigh-grazing mini, they’re surprisingly chic. And the slightest heel completely changes the game! So the next time you head out, try a bodysuit tucked into a utility skirt or a plain white tee and a leather mini. Finish off the outfit with with heeled flip flops – I bet you’ll be surprised at how cool and understated it looks.

With Maxi Dresses…
Flip flops are becoming more like sneakers in that you can wear them with anything. A flowing maxi dress is always a great option to throw with heeled flip flops. Not only do the thin, barely-there straps temper the most feminine pieces but most people probably won’t notice your shoes anyway.
