Let a statement outerwear piece do the talking
Long, double-breasted wool coats are a chic, stylish way to stay warm. Besides being a necessary layering piece against the cold, it’s fun to play with a long patterned coat as the centerpiece of your outfit. Faux furs and teddy bear coats are another way to look cute in warm layers. Oversized pieces look great with a pair of skinny jeans or trousers. One cool statement jacket can instantly glam you up and make an entire outfit.

Get Bright!
Just because it’s dreary outside doesn’t mean you have to be! In fact, there’s no better way to stand out against the city’s gray backdrop than to add a pop of bold color. Turn heads with a bright red coat or create a head-to-toe tonal outfit like did above. If you need some inspo for monochrome looks, check out this post here. Just pick your favorite hue – and go to town clashing shades.

When in doubt, wear pants
I don’t know about you, but as soon as the temperatures drop, all I want to do is put on a soft pair of sweatpants and wrap myself in stretchy fabrics until springtime. Unfortunately, we all want to look presentable for a night out.
The perfect solution? A pair of trousers or leather pants! They’re sophisticated, and often more comfortable than jeans! A cropped pair is great for showing off statement boots – or strappy sandals for a swanky night out on the town. And you can always add sheer tights to up the cool factor.

Velvet, satin, and lace
At the end of the day, it’s what’s on the inside that actually counts…and that is why you’ve got to complement your outerwear with something alluring underneath! Soft, delicate fabrics contrast beautifully with a structured coat or jacket on top. Try a velvet top or a satin dress to add a dreamy, feminine touch. I also love the sexiness of lace peeking from underneath a coat – it’s such a lavish combo.

Accessorize with a scarf
You’ll be surprised at what a scarf can do. Sometimes, I like to tie my entire look together with a scarf! This trend is amazing in that it is equal parts function and fashion. A silk scarf is dressier, but if you can get away with it, cashmere will keep you cozier. You can simultaneously make a statement and keep yourself extra warm as I did above!
