Fall is officially here and it’s one of my favorite seasons to get out and do things with the family. In the past, we’ve visited Oregon and Vermont. However, with the pandemic still in place, things are surely looking different this year. Though we are limited to how we can spend our time, that doesn’t mean you should cancel your usual fall activities completely. In fact, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors and appreciate the beauty all around you as the foliage begins to change. That being said, I wanted to share my ideas for fun fall activities you can do with the family while staying safe and socially distant.…

Apple Picking
Apple picking is always a fun activity I can’t skip out on in the fall. It’s also great during the pandemic because you can easily stay 6 feet away from other people while rummaging through the endless rows of trees. When you’re under the shelter grabbing cider or donuts, you can quickly pop on a mask too, then let the kids run around wild while you enjoy. Remember to wear comfy sneakers, riding boots, or rain boots.

Cabin Trip to the Mountains
Cabin trip getaways are also still feasible during the pandemic. If you’re concerned about contaminated bedsheets, I’d recommend going with a place that has a washer and dryer so you can re-wash everything yourself before bed. You can also never go wrong with some chlorox wipes. This is going to be your best bet for getting away without having to hop on a plane right now.

Go Leaf Peeping
If the thought of staying somewhere overnight makes you uncomfortable, you can always just pack up the family for a drive through the mountains. There are usually tons of overlooks that you can stop at to enjoy the view. Pack a blanket and some snacks for mini picnics along the way.

Decorate Your Porch or Mantel
Nothing gets me in the mood for a new season like a freshly decorated front porch or fireplace mantel. Let the kids in on it and add some faux or real pumpkins, a new decorative wreath, and a door mat.

Pumpkin Patch
One of the fun fall activities our family won’t be missing this year is the pumpkin patch. With the acres of open fields, you can surely enjoy a socially distant yet eventful evening at the pumpkin patch. Besides picking out a few pumpkins to decorate the home with, the kids always enjoy the hayrides or local farm offers. Once you’re back at home, it’s pumpkin carving time!

Cozy Up By The Fire Pit At Home
Finally, there’s nothing wrong with kicking back at home either! If you have a fire pit in the backyard, you can invite some friends over and roast marshmallows with the family. Otherwise, pop on the fireplace and enjoy some wine, hot chocolate, and some good spooky stories.
