When it comes to getting dressed for the day, one thing I continuously take into consideration is my schedule. Anyone who lives in the city knows that the best garments are multifunctional and can work for the office, lunch dates, happy hour, or nights at a bar. That being said, I appreciate a chic top or bottom that can easily be styled for the day as well as the night. Most mornings, I start out as a frantic mom and as a the day draws on, I turn into a hustling business woman. Come night time, I always try to show up 100% for dinner or events, which means day-to-night dressing is something I’ve learned to master. Read on for the day-to-night outfit ideas I rely on when I want to make zero effort!…

Tuxedo Jacket
Probably one of the easier pieces to wear all day, the iconic blazer easily adapts to any situation depending on how you style it. From morning to evening, it layers over just about anything from a dress to a pencil skirt to jeans. I prefer to dress it down to be more casual with some distressed skinny jeans and sneakers but will often change into heels at night. The juxtaposition between the formality of the structured blazer pairs well with relaxed bottoms. From there, you can easily spruce it up with accessories.

Ruffle Skirt & Silk/Satin Cami
A ruffle skirt & silk cami is a combo you can wear all day and late into the evenings! Since a silk cami can look quite glamorous during the day, play it down with more casual fabrics like chambray, and linen. Adding leather accessories keeps the outfit edgy and trendy, without looking too over the top. Mule loafers go well with the look during the first part of the day and strappy heels up the ante at night.

Cocktail Dress & Casual Shoes
We all have plenty of dresses that border formal wear. With added detail like eyelet lace and ruffled hems, it can be hard to try and style something so special in a casual, everyday way. In these instances, it all comes down to the footwear choice. If you are looking to style it for a low key outing, wear with more informal shoes like espadrilles or sneakers to transform the look into a more relaxed vibe.

Casual Dress & Tall Boots
Although you might think tall boots are too bold for the day, there are a few key factors that make it work! Again, the common theme is pairing something formal with a completely opposite item. First, go for a neutral color, then slip on a basic tunic and menswear jacket. This definitely tones down the statement-making effect of a tall boot paired with a shorter hemline – and it’s something I’ll be wearing a ton of this fall.

Leather Pants & Denim Jacket
Believe it or not, but something as daring as form fitting and edgy as leather pants can also be styled appropriately for the daytime! Since this is such a statement piece, I love to style it with an oversized denim jacket and a graphic tee. Accessories can really change the game here – for instance printed boots, pointed toe flats, or statement earrings. This is another ideal pre-fall look.
