There is no one who loves a good suit more than me, so I could not be more thrilled to see the particular rise in popularity of casual suiting this year as we are far from the days in which this tailored outfits are confined to just the office. More and more we are seeing different variations of the woman’s suit and I am here to stand by it all. A simple added detail or color can completely change the aesthetic too, ensuring there is something out there for everyone depending on your style preferences. Lately, I have been wearing a multitude of different sets, all of which cast a different vibe. In order to show you just how versatile this trend can be, here are some of my favorite recent casual suits for spring you can start wearing.…

Feminine Suiting: Pastels
A common misconception is that suits are strictly for menswear but that is far from the truth, especially with all the recent, trend-savvy variations now abundant on the market. One way to take the typical suit and cater it more towards a feminine palette is adjusting the colorway. Softer, more demure hues (such as pastels) will automatically soften up the overall look so the tailoring does not come off as harshly. In addition, details such as bow embellishments or other similar features that would make your casual suits more feminine.

Updated Classic: Plaid
If you are looking for an updated version of the tailored suit, try shopping for different patterns rather than just basic solids. Although plaid can be more traditional in terms of design, an all over plaid suit (especially in black and white), can look really refreshing and far different from the stereotypical office attire. To update your plaid suit even further, you can get a bit more daring by opting for no under layer. The subtle peek of skin pays homage to the just as popular cutout trend that has also been just as popular this year.

Fun & Quirky: Polka Dots
On the other hand, an alternative to a classic plaid is a fun polka dot print. I have always found this pattern to be more youthful and playful, making it a really optimal option when you want to try out the casual suit trend but do not want it to come off so literal. To further differentiate your outfit from something so typical, you can look for unique silhouettes. For instance, an oversized blazer comes off more casual. Or you could even skip the trousers and wear a coordinating skirt or pair of shorts instead!

Modern: New Casual Suit Silhouettes
I could even go so far as to say that modern casual suits do not necessarily need to consist of a definitive blazer and suit pant. Rather, the idea of a tailored, coordinating jacket and bottom also fit the bill. For instance, instead of a structured blazer swap for a structured workwear jacket. This offers up a much more modern take on this trend. To take it a step further, tailored pieces in geometrical prints or bold patterns are just another way to approach this trend from a newly defined 2021 perspective.

Power Suit: Tied Up
Admittedly, this option is not as ‘casual’ as the others but I wanted to highlight this recent look of mine because I really think the addition of this one accessory can completely transform your suit game. A tie around the neck with any suit gives the wearer just the right amount of edginess and power, especially when worn loosely and relaxed – almost like an afterthought. I seriously challenge those who argue ties are just for menswear! If you are keen on the casual suit trend this season, I strongly encourage you to challenge yourself to add a tie or neckerchief to elevate your look even further.
