There are countless things I appreciate about living on the East Coast, but one of my favorite attributes is my ability to experience all four seasons. Although, I may denounce the extreme cold or the sweltering heat at times, there is something so extraordinary about being able to enjoy the change in seasons and dress for each one individually. Which is why I have come to really enjoy the transitional period between these said seasonal periods. Dress + Thigh High Boots
Thigh high boots continue to be a lifesaver during this transitional time when winter becomes spring. If there is a late snowfall or an early onset of spring rain, a pair of high boots are there to save the day. I especially love wearing mine with a dress for this in between time frame. This is a great excuse to bust out your flowy summer dresses even earlier so you can truly maximize their wear.

Turtleneck + Dress
Another way to get use out of your dresses as soon as winter breaks and spring returns is to take advantage of the art of layering. Simply layer a lightweight long sleeve or turtleneck under a dress and you are all set. Doing so definitely provides some additional warmth and adds some contrast between the base layer and the dress itself.

Sweater + Jeans
Sometimes the most brilliant outfits are those that are simple. When the weather is finicky and you really don’t know what to wear, reverting to the basics is always welcomed. Slip on your favorite pair of denim and a cozy knit for something easy and casual. This combination can still look chic, especially when paired with a sweater emblazoned with logomania, cool emblem, or pattern.

Trench Coat
When in doubt, go with a trench coat. The timeframe between winter and spring is perhaps the best opportunity to bring out this timeless outerwear piece. The best thing about it is that you can literally layer it overtop of any outfit and it will never fail to look good. If you want to maintain that spring vibe though, wear some bright or pastel colors underneath in commemoration of the end of the winter season.

Blazer + Jeans
Obviously blazers are something that can be rocked all year round but once it is warm enough, they can take over as your sole source of warmth – no need for an additional jacket. Try layering your favorite oversized blazer over a light sweater or knit top and pair with some mom jeans for that cool, effortless aesthetic.

Tee + Culottes
Once the sun returns, I cannot help but want to quickly jump into some cut-off shorts but it’s obviously still too cold for something that drastic! Which is why culottes act as the perfect transitional bottom because they are the happy medium between shorts and pants. Since culottes are rather flowy, pair with a form fitting top or t-shirt to finish off the look. Once we get into late spring, you can exchange those tees for a crop top.
