Duster Coat
In addition to the trench, the other longline essential coat style I highly recommend is the duster coat. There are a few different variations of the duster coat you can add to your collection. For instance, a wool or quilted fabrication or belted versus a non-belted style. In terms of color, you can never go wrong with either grey, camel or black.

Leather or Suede
Another iconic coat is the leather (or suede) jacket. For this piece, I highly recommend sticking to neutrals here too as a black or a tan is easier to maximize. A leather or suede moto jacket can easily layer over anything from a t-shirt and jeans to a dress – possibilities are endless!

Denim Jacket
One of the more casual fall and winter coats is the classic denim jacket. It provides that effortlessly chic aesthetic that does not require much thought, making it a great option to grab on-the-go. Again, this is another versatile coat that you could honestly wear any time of the year. Personally, I love a good oversized version as it makes layering a piece of cake.

Blazer
A jacket I continually find myself gravitating towards time and time again is the blazer. Out of all the listed essential outerwear options in this blog, the blazer is definitely the one that I have the most versions of. No matter who you are, everyone needs that basic black blazer you
could wear to the office. But from there, do not be afraid to test the boundaries and try out different styles! A printed blazer or a statement color is a nice way to spice up your outerwear collection.

Puffer Coat
If you live in a colder climate, a puffer coat is more than a fashion choice – it is a necessity to brave the drops in temperatures. Obviously, the plus side to a high-quality puffer jacket is the warmth and insulation! These days, this is one of the fall and winter coats you can wear that’s actually trendy and you will find it in differing lengths and styles.

Faux-Fur or Sherpa
I also love a good textured piece to add dimension and interest to my looks. An easy way to tackle this is via a cozy jacket. A faux-fur jacket or a sherpa shacket will instantly elevate the most basic of looks. I love having a textured jacket or two up my sleeve for fall and winter. It is like wearing a socially acceptable, comfy blanket outside of the house!
